{Trend Watch!} The Swiss Cross

Recently I have seen this trend slowly make its appearance. First on a few crafty bloggers that I follow on Instagram and now it has blown up the design world! This trend is well known as a pattern. However it started as a single cross on the flag of Switzerland.

The flag of Switzerland consists of a red flag with a white cross (a bold, equilateral cross) in the centre. It is one of only two square sovereign-state flags, the other being the flag of Vatican City.

Now that you know where it came from, check out where it has evolved into…

Now, this trend isn’t all black and white. Remember it originated in red; see what the colourful world has done with the Swiss Cross…

Don’t love it? My favourite is the children’s room. Although I’m in love with all of the black and white options as well.

I do have to say however that unless you are trying to go for a safety, health, or rescue ‘look’ I wouldn’t decorate with the red Swiss Cross. The ones shown in the pictures above have been done tastefully because they are all in semi-subtle ways but (and maybe it’s just me) I think it should be any other colour in the home.

This trend has exploded into the decorating world and we hope that you have enjoyed it as much as we do! Try it in a small area and see if it doesn’t capture your eye!

Take care Edgers,
