Home Shows and Barnboard!

This weekend was spectacularly busy for the staff here at Over The Edge Design and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

We kicked off the weekend with the Friday set up and Half day of the Clarington Homeshow, while Beth went to represent us at the first SHE MOVEMENT Event. The event was lovely and filled with tons of inspiring women from all different industries, personalities and walks of life. Beth has been fairly active in this movement, creating their logo and helping where possible. The movement was started by a friend of the industry Andrea Drysdale of Refresh Home Styling  based out of the Halton region. We are very honoured to be involved and support such a great event and can’t wait for the next one!

After a fabulous Friday night, we kicked off Saturday with a busy day at the Clarington Home & Garden Show. Marsha spoke at noon, about our booth and the use of barnboard in decor. Her speech was titled “Reclaimed, Restored and Re-used; Rejuvenating old reclaimed wood, a 2014 trend.” It proved to be a hit, and was a fantastic tie to our booth that was decked out in reclaimed wooden furniture. (Thank you to The Barnboard Store and Kodan Flooring for graciously providing the wood for our backdrop and flooring)

Marsha speaking on the Reused Wood Trend

One of our favourite pieces of furniture from this weekends Home Show is this gorgeous warm wood coffee table. Made from the torn down rafters of the Bragg Family barn in Bowmanville, these pieces of wood are over 210 years old! Handmade in our shop by our own staff (even the metal work is ours) we love the character this piece can bring into a living room. Rustic and historical enough to start conversations, but still simple and classy enough to fit with more modern tastes as well. This piece is currently for sale, for pricing and dimensions please email elizabeth@over-the-edge-design.com

These beautiful nesting tables are made of barn siding from a barn north of Cobourg, the pipe legs add some extra industrial interest and it is another gorgeous set that we have for sale.  For pricing and dimensions please email elizabeth@over-the-edge-design.com

Pipe Leg Nesting Table (For Sale!)

This particular table is by far my (Beth’s) personal favourite! This is a breath-taking live edge console table, made of polished black walnut on modern steel legs *swoon* It looks absolutely stunning as a hallway console table or as an accent piece in the dining room or living room. It is one of those pieces that as sad as I will be to see it go, I know it will look beautiful where ever it ends up. For pricing and dimensions please email elizabeth@over-the-edge-design.com

Sunday began with more wonderful and interesting people, and we did a lot of networking with fellow vendors (we can now provide even more awesome service) Jeff also spoke at 2pm about “The Benefits of 3d Imagery in Interior Design” And did a brief section on Marsha’s Saturday topic of “Reclaimed Barnboard”. Video soon to come! It was a great speech and we are so happy to have such a fearless leader!
